PSLE Math Tuition for P5 & P6
Small groups of six, built around the revised PSLE syllabus and the marks children lose even when they know the method.
The two years that shape the PSLE grade
In P5 and P6, topics get heavier and Paper 2 problem sums run across several steps. Small habits, like misreading a question or unclear working, start costing real marks. We catch those habits early.
PSLE Math now follows the revised syllabus
From the 2026 PSLE onwards, speed is no longer part of the primary syllabus and is taught in Secondary 1, while ratio and average have moved from P5 to P6. We teach to the current syllabus, so practice goes to what will be tested. Our PSLE Math guide explains how the two papers work.
What We Cover in P5 & P6 Math
Number & Algebra
- Whole numbers and order of operations
- Fractions and decimals across the four operations
- Simple algebra and linear expressions (P6)
- Number patterns
Ratio, Percentage & Rate
- Ratio, including the before-and-after problem sums that trip children up
- Percentage, discount and GST questions
- Rate
Measurement & Geometry
- Area of triangles and composite figures
- Circles: area and circumference
- Volume of cubes and cuboids
- Angles in triangles and quadrilaterals
Statistics & Exam Skills
- Average, plus pie charts and graphs from earlier levels
- Paper 1 speed and accuracy without a calculator
- Paper 2 heuristics for multi-step problem sums
- Presenting working so it earns method marks
How Our PSLE Math Classes Work
We read the working
In a small group, the teacher sees every step. When marks go missing, we find the exact error type (misreading, a unit conversion, a weak concept) instead of calling it carelessness.
Both papers, practised differently
Paper 1 needs fast, accurate computation without a calculator. Paper 2 needs a plan before the first line of working. We train each separately, then together under time pressure.
Parents know where things stand
You get regular, specific feedback on which topics are secure and which still need work, so practice at home goes where it matters.

Common Questions
When should my child start PSLE Math tuition?
P5 is a good time if there is a real gap to close, because the P5 syllabus lays the foundation for much of what is tested at PSLE. Starting in P6 is not too late, but there is less time to rebuild weak topics before the exam.
My child understands the method but keeps losing marks. Can you help?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons parents come to us. Lost marks usually follow a pattern, such as misreading the question, answering in the wrong unit or working that does not show the method. Once we can see the pattern, we can fix it.
Is the first class free?
Yes. Book a free trial class and we will suggest the P5 or P6 class that best suits your child’s level and schedule.
