PSLE English Tuition for P5 & P6
Small groups of six, preparing children for all four PSLE English papers, including the oral most children leave too late.
Four papers, one English grade
Most children prepare well for composition and comprehension. Grammar is usually weaker than parents expect, and oral is the biggest gap of all. Our guide to each PSLE English paper explains what each one tests.
All Four Papers, Covered
Paper 1: Writing
- Continuous writing: planning, plot and characterisation
- Situational writing: purpose, audience and tone
- Fictional and non-fictional writing
Paper 2: Language Use & Comprehension
- Grammar: verb and noun phrases, clauses, conditionals
- Editing, cloze passages and synthesis & transformation
- Visual text, MCQ and open-ended comprehension
Paper 3: Listening Comprehension
- Timed listening practice with past-year style materials
- Note-taking and keyword focus while listening
Paper 4: Oral Communication
- Reading aloud with fluency and expression
- Stimulus-based conversation with clear, coherent responses
- Vocabulary on themes such as travel, science and technology
How Our PSLE English Classes Work
Every child speaks and writes
In a small group, there is time in each lesson for every child to read aloud, answer, and have their writing looked at, including the quieter ones.
Equal weight on every paper
We give grammar, listening and oral the same attention as composition and comprehension, because every paper counts towards the final grade.
Feedback you can act on
Parents hear which components are strong and which need work, with specific suggestions for practice at home.

Common Questions
When should my child start preparing for the PSLE oral?
Earlier than most parents think. Oral confidence comes from regular practice at speaking, not from last-minute drills, so building it through P5 makes P6 far less stressful.
My child reads a lot but still loses marks in comprehension. Why?
Reading widely builds vocabulary, but comprehension questions also test precise answering: finding the evidence, answering exactly what is asked, and keeping tenses and phrasing accurate. These are skills we practise explicitly.
Do you help with composition?
Yes. We work on planning, developing a plot and characters, and situational writing, with feedback on each piece so children know exactly what to improve.
Is the first class free?
Yes. Book a free trial class and we will suggest the P5 or P6 class that best suits your child’s level and schedule.
